SARA, MOM:
You're trying to look for ways to entertain your child and this is a great way, because you're singing and you're dancing and interacting and it's a fun way to do it.
ANNOUNCER:
It’s no secret babies love music but they may be getting more out of it than just entertainment.
KEVIN MEEKER, MUSIC TEACHER:
Anything you set to music is easier to remember. You know, and be it just factual information or anything. If it's set to music, it has a rhythm to it, a cadence and it's repetitive, you know? There's something they can latch on to there. I think that aids in learning.
SARA, NANNY:
There's also socialization that sort of happens and I’ve seen him, in particular, go from being like he would never move from my lap and he would just lie there to now crawling towards the guitar and like touching the other kids.
ANNOUNCER:
Research is being done but it’s too early to know for certain if music helps babies learn better. Still, music teacher Kevin meeker says it definitely makes them - and their parents - happier!
KEVIN MEEKER, MUSIC TEACHER:
Seeing the kids get into the music. You know, see them from the youngest age of just rocking back and forth to when they get a little older, they start to shake, do a little dance, whatever their little thing is. You know, just seeing them get into it and seeing the moms or the caregivers or the dads and the kids dancing together to the music
ANGELA, MOM:
I find myself walking home singing the songs. I’ve bought some instruments myself and I’ll play some songs and I learned that from coming here. It gave me some new ideas.
KEVIN MEEKER, MUSIC TEACHER:
It's so cool to be a part of them first enjoying music, the first time that music really like blows their mind. I definitely feel lucky to be that guy.
